Tess

We looked for months for the perfect companion for our Dane mix boy, Doodle. We met many candidates, but when Tess came to visit, we knew she was the one. Tess and Doodle hit it off immediately, and they haven't stopped playing since!! We are grateful to Castle of Dreams for facilitating our adoption, and to Jen, the foster Mom for being so nice and helpful!!

Darling Darla

My son died on June 16, 2011 and our house was always so sad. I cried every morning and every night. Last month I prayed to my son to help ease my pain.I got an urge to get a puppy, something I never really thought of before, but the urge became overwhelming. My husband was against getting a dog. My family pleaded with him to get my daughter and I a puppy. The next day, without me knowing, he went to the aspca. I happen to be out with friends and I called my husband. I heard all this barking in the background, but he did not find a dog. My neighbors father died, Charles Petty, and my husband was reading his obiturary to find out where the wake was being held. He noticed when reading the obiturary that donations were to be sent to Castle of Dreams, rescue shelter. He went to the web sight and found our little Darla. Something came over my husband and he got excited about getting a puppy. We filled out the adoption papers and Darla's Foster mom called us. We went and got
our puppy 2 weeks ago. We asked her foster mom when she was born. We know my son sent us Darla, she was born the day he died. We still have tears in our house, but there is also laughter. She has brought us so much healing and joy and I know a part of my sons spirit is in her. Thank you Castle of Dreams for giving us our beautiful puppy. We are one big happy family. I framed a picture for my neighbors mother, so that a part of Charles Petty is with her also.

The Love of My Life

Last year I adopted Hope. When I first saw her I thought she was the cutest little thing ever! She was in a gas shelter in North Carolina, in which CODAR pulled her from. After adopting Hope, she really opened up my eyes to what is really going on out there, and the abuse these innocent animals go through. Since then, I have become very active with helping and rescuing dogs, doing all I can to help and spread the word. I am now a foster, which I love! Thank you again for doing all you can do to help these beautiful animal! Hope is my world and I couldn't ask for anything more!

DAKOTA

After the loss of our Lab mix Jetty, their was some division in our house whether or not to get another dog. Jetty was a perfect dog and we feared that we couldn't get lucky twice. Finding Castle of Dreams was our best luck yet. Lightning has struck twice with Dakota and we are grateful to CODAR.

Sincerely,

Roxy

After the loss of my beloved shitzu Gizmo, I di not plan on getting another dog. I found myself looking at rescue websites and found my way to Castle of Dreams where I signed myself up for email alerts to a young female shitzu around my area. I saw a pic of a matted long haired shitzu mix and my journey began. Castle of Dreams had her flown up from a kill shelter in Missouri by "Pilots for Paws" to a foster home in my area, but not before they had her groomed. As you can see, she is a beautiful inside and out and we have fallen in love with each other. She is going to spend the rest of her life, doing all the normal dog things she never had a chance to learn and will continue to thrive with the love and devotion of her new family!

Isabella (Izzy)

Our original quest was for a pure bred boxer, but Divine Intervention led us to "Izzy". She had been found in North Carolina in a bucket with 2 siblings. They wound up in a kill shelter awaiting their demise. Thanks to organizations like Castle of Dreams, Izzy and her siblings were spared and we were blessed to get Izzy. As with all puppies she very active and needs a lot of exercise, bu tthat helps us too. She is truly lovable and gives that love right back to us. Over the past 5 weeks she has grown tremendously, just barely fitting in our laps. We have a trainer coming in teaching us how to train her and that seems to be working out well. I believe Izzy has found a home and we are really glad it's ours!

3 Little Doxies

Madison was adopted by Jonathan and is loving her new home and her two sisters. This is a letter sent to us by Jonathan:

Hi! Here are some pics. The first is Bianca, Amy, and Madison after a long day at work! Amy, is my 1 year old resuce, she lived in a cage all her life! Bianca I've had since she was 6 weeks old, she is now 8. The black and white picture is my beloved Lily who died on September 11, 2010. She was 14. She was my heart dog! She too was rescued from being a puppy mill mom, and I got her when she was 4. She took a piece of my heart when she died.

My parents also rescued all their lives - right up until my dads passing. My mom has two Bassett Hounds and a Golden Retriever, all rescues, and horses and goats and things.

We are Buddhist and Madison loves to sit and meditate and chant with us, and she LOVES the bell!

Just thought we share!

Thanks for doing the wonderful work you do.

Juju

Hello! Wanted to share some recent photos of our girl Juju. I feel she has fully acclimated to her new home - sometimes sleeping at night with her brother Koda on his bed downstairs (wish we could get a picture of that) - sometimes in bed with Mommy & Daddy. She now sits/sleeps next to Greg on his sofa downstairs when Mommy's not home/out of town, loves to play in the snow and sun bathes on the sofa/living room floor. The last picture has her sporting her new red collar and tags - thought of pink but she's such a Tom boy I thought red would better suit her personality. And she's always ready for a treat and belly rub! You can see from the photos that she certainly has some lab - perhaps a pointer - in her blood. Juju has boundless energy that I wish I could bottle. She is such a joy and blessing. We are very, very lucky to have her in our lives.

We took her to our vet a few weeks ago for a check up and Dr. Ladman reported that she's a very healthy girl. We had her micro chipped while we were there. I plan to take her to doggie training to acclimate her to other dogs - especially larger ones. She is getting more comfortable with Greg (my husband) but she still needs work with other men. I think it's only a matter of time and God only knows what she went through down South. At the moment, Juju's sleeping in her bed in the kitchen. Thanks again for all that you do.

Please take care and keep up the good work,
Laurie B.

Bogey

We learned through a friend who fosters that a Schnauzer mix was coming in the next transport from Missouri. From the first picture I saw of "Prince Pewter" I knew he was our dog. We picked him up on January 14th, 2011 and knew instantly he belonged in our family. I knew there was a beautiful little pure bred Miniature Schnauzer under all of that hair! He just had his first grooming and is more adorable than ever. He is the sweetest boy, loves his family, and his canine neighbors. He loves to run and bark and play and seems to have gained lots of self-esteem along with his proper haircut. We couldn't have found a better companion if we tried!

Attached are some recent photos of Nena that we took. She is so well-adjusted, and we are just thrilled to have her! She loves going on long walks to the park, and you'll see from the photos that she and my husband are skateboard buddies. We can't imagine not having her, so thank you for rescuing her so that she could be part of our family!

Our new puppy Jake

We have been wanting to adopt a puppy for quiet some time. We had concerns that our 12 yr old Rottie Sniper would not accept another dog in the house.Even though we knew Sniper was not aggressive towards other dogs, it's much different when the dog is on his turf. We didnt want to find a puppy, fall in love with it and then have to bring it back because it didn't work out. So needless to say we were very hesitant. My husband and I would often search petfinder just to look and think oh that one is so cute, or how about this one and then realize myabe it's not the right time. Puppies need a lot of time, devotion and attention which also added to the mix of thought. We started talking more and more about getting a puppy. My kids were grown and old enough to help and my husband retired. It was now falling into place. One night with time on my hands, I searched pet finder. I came across the cutest puppy. A 9 week old Mastiff mix, So I decided to fill out the application. I told m
y daughters and my husband what I did. We were all very excited, I told them not to get there hopes up just yet. We still had to be approved and we still had our Rottie to consider. Not long after that we got a call from Evelyn. We were told to the puppy was ours if we wanted it. Thanksgiving weekend we jumped in the car to meet the puppy. We all fell in love. At the store Sniper didn't seem to care much about the puppy. But we werent home yet so all of that could change. We decided to go for it and I'm glad we did. We named him Jake after my husbands best friend who passed away suddenly this past summer. He has brought so much life, love and laughter into our home. My husband and Sniper have a new best friend. We love him so much. He is perfect for us. Sniper and Jake have certainly bonded. Jake follows him everywhere. Even though Jake gets on his nerves at times, they really are very good together. Thank you Castle of Dreams for bringing Jake to us.
